1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files stored on a device by a website. Similar technologies can include browser storage, tracking pixels, software-development kits, and techniques that read or write information on a device.
2. What this site currently uses
The current De.Coded website does not itself set or read cookies. It does not use local storage or session storage. It does not load analytics, behavioural advertising, social-media tracking, third-party video, maps, or embedded widgets.
Ask De.Coded keeps the conversation only in the active page memory. Closing or reloading the page removes that conversation from the website.
Hosting logs are different
A hosting provider may create technical server logs when it delivers a page. Server logs are not cookies, but they can contain personal data such as an IP address. The final provider, log fields, and retention period must be documented in the Privacy notice before publication.
4. If the website changes
Before any non-essential analytics, advertising, personalisation, or embedded third-party technology is enabled, De.Coded will:
- identify the technology, provider, purpose, data, duration, and transfer location;
- update this notice and the Privacy notice;
- prevent consent-dependent technologies from loading before a valid choice;
- offer a refusal option as clearly as acceptance where EU consent rules apply;
- make withdrawal or later preference changes as easy as the original choice;
- retain evidence of consent only where necessary.
Under Swiss rules, non-essential technologies must at least be explained and users must be able to object; prior express consent may be required for unexpected, high-risk, or sensitive processing. EU rules generally require prior consent before non-essential information is stored on or accessed from a user’s device.
5. Browser controls
You can use your browser settings to view, block, or delete cookies. Blocking necessary cookies can affect websites that depend on them, although the current De.Coded website does not require cookies for its functions.
